Thinking about raising chickens? This beginner-friendly class is designed to help you make an informed and confident start. We'll cover the foundational knowledge every new chicken keeper should understand before bringing home their first chicks.

Together, we'll explore whether chickens are a good fit for your lifestyle, how many bired to start with, basic housing and daily care, feeding and nutrition, what to expect as your clock grows, and how to choose breeds that align with your goals. 

Getting chicks is exciting but having the right setup before they arrive makes all the difference. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to build a safe, comfortable brooder, choose the right supplies, maintain the proper temperature, and avoid common beginner mistakes. You'll leave knowing exactly what you need to confidently welcome your new chicks home. 

Your chicks have arrived... now what? Learn exactly what to do during those important first hours and weeks to help your chicks get off to a healthy start. We'll cover transportation, settling into the brooder, feeding, watering, monitoring their health, and recognizing what's normal versus when it's time to take action. 

Healthy chickens are happy chickens—but they can't tell you when something's wrong. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to perform routine health checks, recognize the early signs of common illnesses and injuries, and know when it's time to call a veterinarian. We'll also show you how to build a simple first-aid kit and share practical tips to help you keep your flock healthy year-round. 

What you feed your flock has a direct impact on their health, happiness, and egg production. In this workshop, you'll learn what chickens need at every stage of life, how to choose the right feed, when treats are beneficial, and which foods should never make it into the coop. We'll also discuss common nutrition myths and simple feeding practices that help your flock thrive.  

Ever wonder why your hens suddenly stop laying or why some eggs have thin shells, double yolks, or unusual shapes? This class explores the many factors that influence egg production, from nutrition and daylight to age and seasonal changes. You'll gain a better understanding of what's normal, what's not, and how to help your hens produce healthy, high-quality eggs throughout the year. 

Chickens have their own unique personalities and ways of communicating. In this fun and informative workshop, you'll learn how to understand common flock behaviors, including the pecking order, dust bathing, broodiness, vocalizations, and introducing new birds. By learning to "think like a chicken," you'll be better equipped to build a peaceful, well-balanced flock and recognize when something isn't quite right. 

Every season brings new challenges and new opportunities to care for your flock. Learn how to prepare your chickens for summer heat, winter cold, molting season, and changing daylight throughout the year. We'll share practical tips, seasonal checklists, and preventative care strategies to help your flock stay safe, comfortable, and productive no matter what Mother Nature has in store. 

There's nothing quite like meeting baby chicks up close! In this interactive class, young farmers will learn about the incredible journey from egg to chick, discover how chicks grow during their first weeks of life, and practice safe, gentle handling under the guidance of our farm team. It's the perfect introduction to backyard chickens and a fun way to spark a lifelong love of animals and agriculture. 

Roll up your sleeves and experience a day in the life of a young farmer! Kids will help with age-appropriate farm chores like feeding chickens, collecting eggs, watering plants, and learning how we care for our animals every day. Along the way, they'll discover that farming is built on responsibility, kindness, and teamwork all while having plenty of fun.  

Every garden begins with a tiny seed! In this hands-on workshop, children will plant their own seeds, learn what plants need to grow, and explore the amazing journey from garden to table. Depending on the season, they'll also have the opportunity to harvest fresh fruits, vegetables, or herbs and discover where healthy food really comes from. 

 Eggs are full of surprises! Through fun games, simple science experiments, and hands-on activities, kids will explore how eggs are formed, why they come in different colors and sizes, and what makes them so incredible. They'll leave with a new appreciation for one of nature's most amazing creations—and maybe a few fun facts to share at home!
